COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course, JUMPSTART! A Goal Setting Workshop for Filipino Professionals is a 4-hour recorded video- lecture by panel of speakers. Each speaker is given one (1) hour to discuss their respective topics.

This course is particularly significant for Registered Nurses because a large part of their job is to goal- set with patients and their families through Nursing Care Plans. This course seeks to encourage Filipino Nurses to “walk their talk” or “practice what they preach”— meaning, to apply goal- setting techniques and strategies to themselves so they can effectively goal- set with their clients.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

By the end of the course, lifelong learners and students will be able to:

• Understand the importance of setting goals in all areas: physical, emotional-mental- relational health, financial health, and career/ business— and not just merely “day- dream” about how to improve on these areas
• Discover their own motivation and personal “whys” in order to commit to working and improving in all areas
• Concretely show their motivation by starting and continuously working on their goals
• Appreciate the importance of improving in all these areas as Filipino Professionals
• Proactively share the lessons from this course to their families, organizations, and communities

Melinda Huffman, BSN, MSN, CCNS, CHC

Melinda is a best-selling Author and co-founder of the US National Society of Health Coaches. She is an advocate of Motivational Interviewing to improve patient outcomes. She has authored a number of books including Evidence-based Health Coaching for Healthcare Providers.
