Trout can be caught in almost all Florida estuaries and is targeted by both recreational and commercial anglers. Trout season in Virginia is open year-round and the general statewide limits are 6 trout per day, no fish under 7 inches. There are a number of exceptions for certain areas and waters (e.g. Cultural Heritage, City, Special Area, Special Regime and Paid Fishing Waters), so please read the following sections for fishing seasons, dates and restrictions. These different restrictions have been applied to certain wild trout waters as well as different types of trout streams to allow anglers to catch more and larger trout. That may not be the case now, but Pennsylvania`s 2020 trout fishing season is fast approaching. Trout need clean, cold water to survive.
Georgians can be good trout managers by adopting appropriate land use practices. Trees and other vegetation along the banks of the river provide shade to keep the water cold and prevent soil from being washed into the stream. WRD uses special regulations (see below) and stocking to ensure high-quality trout fishing in Georgia. About one million rainbow trout and brown trout are stocked each year from March to mid-September. The number of trout stocked and the frequency of stocking depend on the fishing pressure of a stream, public access and water conditions. Waterways where public access is more frequent are more often stocked with trout. The Tellico River from Sourwood Campground upstream to the dam on the Tellico River half an hour before official sunrise until 12:00 p.m. is closed to fishing by people 17 years of age and older on the day of free fishing (the first Saturday after the first Monday in June). Can own one over 19 inches per boat or, if you are fishing ashore, one over 19 inches per person, which is included in the pocket limit.
