This course is designed to raise awareness of the lifestyle requirements of law enforcement and regulatory agencies. The course also covers the extensive preparation requirements and selection processes used by agencies hired in the law enforcement and regulatory professions. The course covers topics such as the physical demands of the profession, the requirements of a 24-hour workplace, stress management, identifying psychological effects, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This course includes fitness and training planning, lifestyle planning and nutrition. The program is designed to deepen our students` knowledge of law enforcement and the Canadian criminal justice system, and to develop valuable transferable skills such as research, critical thinking, analysis and communication skills. The Bachelor of Law Enforcement Studies (BLES) is a highly sought-after program open to students focused on pursuing or advancing a career in law enforcement and public safety. Analytical techniques are an important addition to every analyst`s toolbox. As criminals become more competent, analysts need to be able to use equally sophisticated analytical skills. The Crime and Intelligence Analysis option trains graduates to successfully apply the tools and techniques needed to solve complex investigations. It provides students with the critical thinking skills needed to manage modern crime, internship experience in a law enforcement agency, access to a global network of intelligence officers, and recognition by international professional associations. Border guards, police officers, correctional officers, probation officers, deputy sheriffs and security professionals must all undergo additional mandatory training.
Employers from other investigative, law enforcement and regulatory bodies may have additional access, qualification and training requirements. Nevertheless, we believe that completing this program can become one of the preferred qualifications for such a job. Completion of the program does not guarantee entry into a law enforcement profession. Graduates who have embarked on careers in law enforcement and public safety include those who have pursued their education at a postgraduate level or who have been hired and have received additional on-the-job training to perform various law enforcement and security roles. These include police officers, by-laws, deputy sheriffs, correctional officers, investigators, probation officers, border and other peace officers and other security roles across Canada. Cyril has worked as a Customs Inspector, RCMP Police Officer and Police Support Staff for the RCMP and Abbotsford Police, as well as a Licensing Officer for DFO. Cyril has experience in front-line policing in Canada`s Lower Mainland and North, federal policing, as well as national security and close protection.
Cyril brings additional expertise from his work as a facilitator to the RCMP`s Terrorism Awareness Program and as an instructor with the RCMP`s VIP Close Protection Driving Program. He holds a bachelor`s degree in religious studies and political science; a postgraduate certificate in policing, intelligence and counter-terrorism; and recently completed his master`s degree in homeland security. Students in this course focus on the different tasks performed by tactical analysts in law enforcement. Students study the 5 phases of the analysis cycle (planning, collection, compilation, analysis, dissemination) and perform a variety of tasks and tasks associated with each of these phases. To complete homework, students use word processing and mapping software. The majority of the course focuses on students` ability to compile and analyze the information provided to them. This course is designed to develop the student`s advanced research and analytical skills. It will focus on the theory of investigation, logic, reality and structure of the investigative investigation, as well as data analysis, measurement model methods and communication of results. Emphasis will be placed on data collection and statistical techniques. The student is introduced to multivariate statistical analysis techniques, using SPSS for application in law enforcement and forensics. Various measurement models, including quantitative, qualitative, and data mining techniques with practical datasets, are covered. Groups must prepare a mini-research project using all statistical applications covered in class.
